National Seat Check Day

September 26 All day

National Seat Check Saturday is a nationwide effort to make sure every child is riding safely. Families can visit certified inspection stations and community events where technicians help check, adjust, and install car seats the right way, no pressure, no judgment.

The goal is simple: to catch the small mistakes that can make a big difference in a crash. Parents and caregivers often think a seat is installed correctly, but nearly half arenโ€™t. This day gives everyone a chance to learn from trained safety technicians, ask questions, and leave confident their childโ€™s seat fits their age, weight, and height.

Inspection sites are set up across the country, many through local police, fire departments, hospitals, and safety organizations. These checks are free, take only a few minutes, and could save a life.

For tools and guidance any time of year, visit the NHTSA Car Seat Inspection page or explore Find the Right Car Seat for easy comparison and installation help.

National Seat Check Saturday is about slowing down, asking for help, and knowing your childโ€™s seat will do its job when it matters most.
