Hey there, lady! I’m Cynthia!
Yeah, that’s what my mom used to call me when I was a little lady, around 12 or 13. Back then, I dreamed had my whole life figured out โ I was going to be a secretary or a nurse.
Well, I did the secretary thing for a while, and eventually, I pursued my nursing passion. But seriously, life took a bit of a turn when I had my daughter at 15. Becoming a mother at 15 changed my life significantly. College was put on hold after high school, instead I dove headfirst into the world of work.
Fast forward a few years
It was college application time for my daughter. She gave me the whole “you didn’t go to college” spiel, and I said, “Girl, I didn’t go because I had YOU!” But hey, let’s go together! And that’s how my nursing journey began.
It took some time, but I graduated from Harcum College’s very first nursing class with honors, thanks to a whole lot of determination and some amazing people who had my back.

Life throws you some curveballs and getting pregnant at 14 and having my daughter at 15 was definitely one of them. But those growing pains โ the juggling act of parenthood, work, school, and relationships โ shaped me into the person I am today: compassionate, understanding, patient (but assertive!), positive, strong, and motivated.
This nurse recruiter told me I’d never be a nurse โ “Nobody will ever hire you! You have too many issues and no one wants to support that.” Yeah, that fired me up! I got five awesome letters of recommendation, landed a nurse extern job, and haven’t looked back since.
Tears welled up. The thing is, I couldn’t just leave my patients at the hospital. It was a moment of pure affirmation, knowing I was in the right place, and doing the right thing. Seeing those parents fall in love with their babies? That’s pure joy. Extending my care beyond the hospital felt natural, like an extension of that baby love I felt in the delivery room.
It’s so much more. It’s about empowering moms, supporting breastfeeding, and nurturing the entire family.
At MMCWC, we’re all about that holistic approach, spa-like atmosphere, and a group of like-minded practitioners aligned in supporting moms and babies and rid us of this misconception with proven action and optimal health results.
